Frequently asked questions
Questions about training at Re:Glow
Eight questions we are asked most often by English-speaking enquirers, answered with the same figures and rules as our Japanese pages. If something here is not covered, send us the question through the English enquiry form.
About language
Sessions are conducted in Japanese. Simple English and translation apps are welcome.
We have no English-speaking trainers. The first question below explains what that means in practice, and what we do to make sessions work anyway.
Do the trainers speak English?
No. Sessions are conducted in Japanese. Simple English and translation apps are welcome.
We do not have any English-speaking trainers, and we would rather tell you before you book than after you arrive. In practice personal training is taught by demonstration: the trainer shows the movement, corrects your position by hand, and counts the repetitions. Simple English words, gestures and a phone translation app cover most of a session. Written contact — booking, rescheduling, questions about your programme — goes through LINE or email, where you can translate at your own pace. If you specifically need detailed nutritional coaching discussed in fluent English, we are not the right gym for you.
What happens in the free trial, and is it really free?
Yes, it is free — ¥0. A trial session normally costs ¥5,500, and we currently waive that.
Allow about 90 minutes in total. The visit covers a counselling interview about your goals and physical history, followed by a real training session with a trainer, one to one, in a private room. Training wear, a towel, shoes and water are included, as is a protein drink or coffee afterwards. If you decide not to join, nothing is charged and there is no follow-up pressure — we do not do aggressive sales.
How much does membership cost, and how do I pay?
Monthly subscription plans start at ¥30,000 per month including tax for four 40-minute sessions. Six sessions are ¥43,500 and eight are ¥56,000. The 60-minute Subscription+ plans are ¥42,000, ¥61,500 and ¥80,000 for four, six and eight sessions. Fixed-term programmes are priced as a whole: the Transformation Program is ¥248,000 for 16 sessions over two months or ¥348,000 for 24 sessions over three months.
There is a ¥22,000 enrolment fee, which is waived on the Transformation and Bridal programmes and when two people enrol together. Subscription plans are billed monthly and require a registered credit card. Fixed-term programmes can also be paid by electronic money and other methods. We do not accept cash. Corporate plans can be invoiced. Unused subscription sessions carry over until the end of the month after next.
What should I bring?
Nothing. Training wear in a range of sizes, towels, shoes and water are all provided free of charge at both studios, and both have a shower room with amenities, so training on the way to or from work is practical.
You are welcome to bring your own kit if you prefer. The only time you need to bring anything is if you intend to join on the day of your trial: for that, bring photo identification such as a driving licence, and a credit card for payment.
What is the cancellation policy for a booked session?
You can cancel a booked session free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time.
Cancellations made within 24 hours of the start time are, as a rule, counted as a used session. This is not a penalty fee — it simply means that session comes off your monthly allowance. Rescheduling is easy through LINE, so if something comes up, tell us as early as you can.
Is there a minimum contract period?
Yes, for subscription plans: three months from the month your subscription starts.
We ask for it because results from training take a few months to become visible, and a one-month membership rarely gives anyone what they came for. There is no separate cancellation penalty, but if you cancel inside the minimum period the remaining months are still payable. The Transformation and Bridal programmes have a fixed length instead, and are not subject to mid-term cancellation. Changing between subscription plans is straightforward: tell a member of staff by the 20th of the month and the new plan applies from the following month; after the 20th it applies from the month after that.
Can I use both studios?
Yes. Members can book at either the Mitakadai studio in Mitaka City or the Jindaiji studio in Chofu City, whichever suits your schedule on the day, at no extra cost.
Pricing, opening hours (9:00 to 23:00, with irregular closing days) and the free rental of wear, towels, shoes and water are identical at both. Many members book near the office on weekdays and near home at weekends.
I have never trained before — and are there female trainers?
Most of our members had no training history at all when they started, and members in their 40s to 70s are common. There is no age limit. Every programme is built around your own fitness level, and if you have back or knee pain we will ask about it in the first counselling session and design around it; if you are under a doctor’s care, sharing that advice helps us programme more safely.
On female trainers: we do not currently have any on staff. All sessions take place in a fully private room rather than on an open gym floor, so members who would prefer not to train in front of other people are generally comfortable here, but we would rather state the position plainly than let you assume otherwise.

Still deciding?
The trial costs nothing and takes about 90 minutes, which is usually a faster way to answer "is this gym right for me?" than reading further. Pick whichever studio is easier to reach and send us a message in English — we read it with a translation app and reply by email, usually within one business day.
